Amy Weidert somatic therapist providing trauma and anxiety therapy in Wisconsin

About Amy

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Wisconsin, and I’ve been working in the mental health field since 2007. My work centers on helping people better understand their internal experiences and develop steadier ways of navigating stress, anxiety, and life transitions.

My background

With experience working across the lifespan — and a background in schools, higher education, and both personal and professional experience with divorce mediation and co-parenting — I offer practical, developmentally informed care tailored to each person’s unique needs.

These roles deepen my understanding of family dynamics, life changes, and the real-world challenges people navigate every day, allowing me to create a supportive space where meaningful, lasting change feels possible.

How I work

Therapy with me is collaborative and thoughtful, with attention to both emotional experiences and the body’s responses to stress. I draw from mindfulness and somatic practices to support change in a way that feels steady and manageable.

Rather than focusing only on insight or analysis, we pay attention to what’s happening in the present moment. This allows therapy to be practical, grounding, and responsive to your capacity.

A mind–body lens

My work is informed by training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Motivational Interviewing, and ongoing training in Somatic Experiencing®. These approaches support greater awareness of the connection between mind and body, helping clients build resilience and ease without pressure to revisit past experiences in detail.

Sessions are paced intentionally, with respect for boundaries and nervous system capacity.

What matters in my practice

I aim to create a space that feels respectful, affirming, and grounded. I view clients as active participants in the therapeutic process, with existing strengths and insight that can be built upon over time.

My practice is social justice–aware and affirming of diverse identities and lived experiences.

Who I typically work with

I often work with college students, young adults, and people navigating life transitions. Many of the clients I support are experiencing anxiety, the effects of trauma, relationship stress/changes, or ongoing overwhelm or burnout.

Working together

If you’re curious about working together, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. This is an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about my approach, and see whether therapy feels like a good fit.
